Two Letters Written By Dr Kwame Nkrumah About His Idea On Marriage

Image
In a letter written in November 1964 to Shirley du Bois who was head of the Ghana Television Service, on the subject of his family’s privacy, Nkrumah wrote:”Marriage does not exist in nature and does not warrant the importance that has come to be attached to it. It is a bourgeois imposition, a mere contrivance set up as a matter of human convenience for the protection of inheritance rights, capitalists and property owners.” In another letter written in August 1965 to his private secretary, Erica Powell Nkrumah said:“Have you noticed that…I’m a very lonely man? I’m friendless and companionless. I suffer from intense loneliness which makes me sometimes burst into tears. I am an isolated man – isolated even from life itself. Few people know this. Confirming the write-up under a post on Facebook, Dr. Sekou Nkrumah, one of the sons of Osagyefo said, he believed his late father had this mindset about marriage because of “his radical and revolutionary thoughts”. “Very correct sir! Brief History Of Dosso, Niger 🇳🇪

Image
Dosso was founded in the second half of the 18th century by the Zarma ruler Garanké as his capital where he established the rule of the Zarmakoy (the Zarma rulers of Dosso). This was the highest level of political administration and justice. The rulers of the surrounding Zarma areas had to pay homage to the prestigious Zarmakoy of Dosso. From 1820, Dosso found itself in constant armed conflict with the Fulani Sokoto Caliphate. In 1830,  Zarmakoy Laouzo died in a battle and was succeeded by Gounabi who was shortly deposed by the Sokoto Caliphate. Dosso remained for several years without a Zarmakoy under the rule of Usman Dan Fodio's Sokoto Caliphate until 1850 when Zarmakoy Kassom took over. Zabarma Emirate Of Ghana (1860-1897)

Image
THE ZABARMA EMIRATE OF GHANA (1860-1897) The Zabarma Emirate was an Islamic state that existed from the 1860s to 1897 in what is today parts of Northern Ghana and Burkina Faso. Although founded by the Zarma people, the Zabarma Emirate was a very heterogeneous entity in which the Zarma were actually only a minority. It was mainly Hausa , Fulani, Mossi and most importantly the Gurusi people who where their main allies and army men. The name Gurunsi actually comes from the Zarma language “Guru-si”, meaning “iron does not penetrate”. It is said that during the Zarma conquest of Gurunsi lands in the late 19th century, the Zarma leader by the name of Baba Ato Zato (better known by the Hausa corruption of his name: Babatu) recruited a battalion of indigenous men for his army, who after having consumed traditional medicines, were said to be invulnerable to iron. This was the genesis of the play and ethnic slavery jokes that exist between the Zarma and Gurusi of Ghana till this day. Desp...

The Songhay Language Family

Image
The Songhai languages, natively known collectively as the "Ayneha" languages are a group of closely related dialects centred on the middle stretches of the Niger River in West Africa. The Songhai languages are ssumed to constitute the primary branch of the Nilo-Saharan language family.  With more than four million speakers, Zarma is easily the widely spoken dialect followed by Songhoyboro Ciine and Koyraboro Senni (Gao dialect). Some Songhay languages have little to no mutual intelligibility between each other. For example, Koyraboro Senni, spoken in Gao, is unintelligible to speakers of Zarma in Niger. However, Songhoyboro Ciine, Zarma, and Dendi have high mutual intelligibility within Niger. The Varieties:    Zarma 🇳🇪 (Pink💗 within the Niger map straddling into Nigeria)  Songhay-boro Ciine🇳🇪  (Yellow💛 within the Niger map)  Tasawaq 🇳🇪 (Lemon Green 🍏 within the Niger map)   Tagdal 🇳🇪 (Lemon Green 🍏within the Niger map)  Dendi 🇳?...

The Only Place Called Songhai Till Today

Image
Often referred by historians as the "Songhai Country", it is an area in the northwestern corner of Niger's Tillabéri Region including the towns of Anzourou, Wanzarbé, Téra, Tillaberi down to Say. It is considered the heartland of the Songhai people and the sanctuary of their ancient pantheon and priestly class and the place where the original lineage of the Sonni Dynasty retreated after the coup d'etat of 1493 creating a secret society of magicians, the 'Soyankés" or "Sohance". In 1591, the Askia Dynasty also migrated to this same area from Gao after the Songhai Empire was invaded by Morroco. Most of the towns in this region are still headed by an Askia or Sonni Descendant.

Palestinian Lives Matter💔🇵🇸

Image
Imam Ali As States: O’ Malik, know that people are of two types, they are either your brothers/sisters in humanity or brothers/sisters in faith. The question here is why the Palestinian people are under severe intimidation and oppression for over 72yrs and the whole world seems to be quiet about what’s happening as if their lives doesn’t matter. The recent issues between Ukraine and Russia got the entire world speaking against Russia as if the lives of the Ukrainians are more valuable than the Palestinians. Palestinians are well known for their spirit of endurance and patience which makes them outstanding despite their suffering. The God of Palestine is alive as we got interesting moments ahead.      Speaking with the Palestinian Ambassador to Ghana H.E Abdalfattah AlSattari upon my recent visit together with the members of Humanity At Heart Campaign Team, His Excellency has shown how bad the situation of his people is back home. Their peace and stability is always at sta...

TODAY MARKS EXACTLY 28YEARS OF RWANDA GENOCIDE…💔💔

Image
The  Rwandan genocide  occurred between 7 April and 15 July 1994 during the  Rwandan Civil War .  During this period of around 100 days, members of the  Tutsi  minority ethnic group, as well as some moderate  Hutu  and  Twa , were killed by armed militias. The most widely accepted scholarly estimates are around 500,000 to 662,000 Tutsi deaths.     In 1990, the  Rwandan Patriotic Front  (RPF), a rebel group composed mostly of Tutsi refugees, invaded northern Rwanda from their base in  Uganda , initiating the Rwandan Civil War. Neither side was able to gain a decisive advantage in the war, and the Rwandan government led by  President   Juvénal Habyarimana   signed the  Arusha Accords  with the RPF on 4 August 1993. Many historians argue that genocide against the Tutsi had been planned for a few years. However,  Habyarimana's assassination  on 6 April 1994 created a power va...
